SO MUCH STUFF GOING ON

"The Best Laid Schemes o' Mice an' Men."

I've just Googled that and found out it was written by Robert Burns, who I'm not really a big fan of. He impregnated quite a few women and then abandoned them, which doesn't impress.

Anyway, life has got in the way of my writing, yet again, and I've had so much stuff to deal with these past 3 months that I haven't had time to write my next book, 'La Bella Visconti', or do any blogs. I do have a stonking 15-odd blogs about the Wars of the Roses, and all the main characters involved, but I don't want to release them too soon before the book's published.

Angie Northey juggling lots of stuff

Back in April, I arranged for some major renovation works to be done on my house, and the builders finished 3-weeks ago, so we've been living in a building site for the past 3-months and it's been absolute chaos. I had no kitchen for a month and had to relocate it into the former garage, now the kids' gaming room, with only a microwave, toaster, kettle, and an air fryer to cook with. Everything was packed away in bin liners stacked all around the house, and whenever I tried to find anything, it was always at the very bottom of the pile! I now have a lovely new kitchen, bathroom, and cloakroom toilet, but I'm still wiping and hoovering up building dust 3-weeks later.

So, there I was, being merrily and gainfully employed by the same company that I'd worked at for the past 35-years, when they made me and 150 others redundant, giving us only a months' notice. I now find myself unemployed for the first time in my life, and having to find another job at the age of 54. My engineering days are over as I have too many aches and pains, and other health issues, so I'll have to re-train in another role. Terrific!

If all that wasn't bad enough, my eldest son, Ryan, had a major operation on his knee at the beginning of July up at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital in Stanmore, a 4-hour round trip from where we live in SW London. The good news is that he's on the mend and doing really well. He can walk about without crutches now and only has a slight limp.

With all this drama and chaos going on, I haven't been able to write, and I've had to concentrate my efforts on applying for jobs and going to interviews. It's all very scary as I haven't been to an interview since 1989, but I'm a tough gal, and I have to keep going and working. I do have quite a few blogs written and ready to publish, so I might start posting them. They're all Wars of the Roses related, or feature the main players involved, as my next book 'La Bella Visconti' is set at the Yorkist courts of Edward IV and Richard III, and involves the dynastic strife the Wars caused. I was hoping to have the book all written, published, and start the marketing and promo in time for this summer but, as the saying goes, shit happens.

OK, that's all my woes, and you can now put the violins away!
